National Park Passes
Most regular visitors to Tasmania's national parks purchase an annual or two yearly seasons pass, which are available from Service Tasmania outlets, National Park Visitor Centres, Tasmanian travel information centres, aboard the Spirit of Tasmania ferries, or via the Parks Pass Portal on the NPWS website via the following link : http://www.parks.tas.gov.au/index.aspx?base=914
For daily registrations, a self registration box is located at the Carr Villa turnoff below Jacob's Ladder.
All vehicles driving beyond the entry station within Ben Lomond National Park must carry snow chains from June to September.
Jacob's Ladder, the only access road to the ski fields, is precipitous and prone to ice and snow at short notice.
Visitors not carrying snow chains are advised to find alternate transport to the ski village. Snow Sports (6390 6185) operates a bus service when the ski lifts are operating. Vehicles not showing a pass may be left outside the park boundary.
Ensure your vehicle has antifreeze in the radiator before travelling to Ben Lomond. Carry a shovel in case you need to dig out your car and a windscreen scraper to remove ice and snow. It is recommended that you swing the windscreen wipers up from your windscreen to prevent damage to the rubber due to ice adhesion.
